چکیده
T his paper considers the imagery generated by multiple pendula swinging from a single beam. Although it is not generally detectable, the pendulum bobs lie on a sinusoid of contracting wavelength. Instead, an onlooker sees a sequence of diverse patterns produced by the bobs. Disparity between the undetected and perceived imagery is caused by insufficient signal sampling. The sequence of visual effects is explained mathematically.

Using the Adaptive Frequency Nonlinear Oscillator for Earning an Energy Efficient Motion Pattern in a Leg- Like Stretchable Pendulum by Exploiting the Resonant Mode
In this paper we investigate a biological framework to generate and adapt a motion pattern so that can be energy efficient. In fact, the motion pattern in legged animals and human emerges among interaction between a central pattern generator neural network called CPG and the musculoskeletal system. Here, we model this neuro - musculoskeletal system by means of a leg - like mechanical system cal...

This paper discusses challenges in enabling teleoperation over the Internet for the specific case of real systems which exhibit fast dynamics. A distributed client-server architecture is proposed to provide the necessary level of interactivity for supervision and tuning, without compromising the essential control tasks. Enabling features include realtime simulation and augmented-reality visuali...
متن کاملInformation processing analysis of the Chevreul pendulum illusion.
An information processing investigation was performed to quantify the Chevreul pendulum effect: the tendency of a small pendulum, when suspended from the hand and imaginatively concentrated on, to oscillate seemingly of its own accord. Using a time exposure photographic measurement technique, electronically automated visual and auditory imaginal prompts were presented to the subject during imag...
متن کاملThe Astrojax Pendulum and the N -Body Problem on the Sphere: A study in reduction, variational integration, and pattern evocation
We study the Astrojax Pendulum and the N-body problem on the sphere in the light of Lagrangian reduction theory, variational integrators, and pattern evocation.
متن کاملHebbian reinforcement learning in a modular dynamic network
We present a multi-population dynamic neural network model with binary activation and a random interaction pattern. The weights parameters have been speci ed in order to distinguish excitatory populations from inhibitory populations. Under speci c parameters, we design functional modules composed of two populations, one of excitatory neurons, one of inhibitory neurons. Such modules are found to...
